Why give to Simple Acts Ministry?

You will be part of directly changing many lives this year.

In the next 12 months, we will …

  • Graduate 10 men from SAM’s Place
  • Involve 50 core members in our monthly meetings and small groups
  • Educate, encourage, and mentor 50 men in Montford’s faith-based dorm
  • Construct a new Sam’s Place Ministry Annex to provide new class room space, offices, and living quarters for our Resident Manager
  • Provide monthly large group meetings and several weekly faith-based educational classes.

You will help expand and support our Christian hospitality house and recovery-and-reentry program.

In 2010, we purchased three duplexes to become the location for SAM’s Place. With the help of volunteers, we renovated and expanded the complex to include six two-bedroom units, a laundry room, and a group meeting area. A live-in resident manager lives on-site to oversee the program. Finances are needed to provide for monthly costs, run weekly classes and groups, maintain the complex, and build a new building to provide class rooms, office and counseling space, a recreations room, library/prayer room, and living quarters for our resident manager. We need support for food, transportation, clothing, and other items to help the men transition to the free world.

You will help a growing community of ex-offenders stay out of trouble and out of prison.

Studies show there are two things that provide the greatest reduction in arrest and return rates among ex-offenders: Involvement in …

  1. an ongoing recovery program.
  2. a healthy support community.

We link ex-offenders to recovery groups, job resources and social services. In addition, we use both small and large groups, as well as one-on-one mentoring to develop a strong, accountable community in the free world.

You will provide curriculum and materials for the men of Montford’s faith-based dorm and beyond.

God has opened an incredible door for us to make Christian disciples in our local prisons. We teach classes and workshops for 50 men, three nights a week at the Montford Unit. We also sponsor faith based classes at the Smith Unit in Lamesa. Your funds will provide enough books, workbooks etc. for each man to grow in their knowledge, character and understanding of God for one year.

You will empower the work and ministry of our daily operations.

Every organization must have funds in order to run. Our needs are simple. We have one full time employee and are currently searching for a building to house our various ministries in. We keep our operational costs low and spend carefully. Your financial help keeps us staffed and resourced to do the work and accomplish our mission.
